Activision and Beachhead Studios have announced that the downloadable content season for Modern Warfare 3 begins in Call of Duty Elite on PlayStation 3 on February 28th!

Per Activision and Microsoft's exclusivity agreement, the content typically launches earlier on Xbox 360 than PlayStation 3 which is what we were expecting to happen. Now that the content has had a period of Xbox Live exclusivity, Activision is getting prepped to launch the first two maps; Liberation and Piazza on PlayStation Network.

PSN users, be sure to check out some Spec Ops footage from these maps as well as our map fly throughs to get an idea of what Liberation and Piazza are like to play.

I agree microsofts agreement shouldn't count now that were PAYING for this service. For those who aren't a part of elite fine but we payed cuz we were promised early maps. The fact that we pay and we STILL get it a month later is bullshit

We have got it earlier by paying for elite. Those that don't may for elite won't get it until around march/ april when they release a map pack. Paying for elite doesn't counter the agreement Microsoft have with Activision, if Sony gave a damm about its community they'd fight for things like this but they're cheap and so they won't. Saying you won't buy a CoD again over this is whats bullshit.
Before anyone gets butt hurt by this post i'll point out that i'm a PS3 player not a Xbox player ;)

I'll be angry if regular xbox players have to wait any less than a month after Elite PS3 members. Yeah i agree Sony needs to offer better online services

Think about it like this, Majority of PS3 players dont have COD Elite Premium membership, which means that even if you were to get the map packs on the same date as Xbox 360, you'll have a LOT harder time finding matches since it technically can't/won't really match you with people that Don't have the map packs (which is again, the majority of PS3 players).

You need to update your news a little more. They just recently added Infection to the community play list.

I am amazed that so many eople though that buying ELITE would somehow change the contract between Activision and Microsoft.

You have to pay a lot of money to play multiplayer on the Xbox while Sony offers this service completley free. That means Microsoft have the $$$ they taken from their customers to swing deals like this.

I´d rather use that money to pay for a brand new game or some cool DLCs. I think it is worth the wait to be able to use my money on that.

You can choose to (if you want) to get PSN Plus. Plus members have good price cuts on some of the new games and are also offering some BETA-testing on a few games.
I think Sony will offer quite a lot of $$$ to try and snag this contract come end 2012 (if they can that is). At the rate these games are selling today we can probably expect at least 3 more years of CoD.

Microsoft shouldn't be allowed to elbow into the games market when we all pay for the same product.

It's like Sky buying the rights to the Grand Prix, you can try and justify it all you want but it's still bullshit.

The only thing i'm really interested in seeing is the numbers. I mean if xbox wants to purchase priority rights thats cool, but are people really buying more 360's just because they get map packs or dlc content a month sooner?? again, something i'd like to see if someone is actually keeping stats of that..but on another note, i'm not so pissed at 360 users getting content first as i am at making ps3 users wait so damn long to get some new content! i mean from november to january 28 is long enough to keep you interested in the game to keep playing it, but from november to february 28 is really pushing it!...just my opinion though

Does it matter if they actually have numbers that reflect that?
No.
Money talks bro.
That is something you must learn.

Haha no argument here on that! I'm curious to know if it pays off for them to pay that premium to get them first is all i'm saying!

If you're counting on the new maps to keep you interested in MW3 you're going to be sorely dissappointed. I rarely ever enter the "prestige or elite or whatever they're called" lobbies because it's just piazza/liberation 24/7 and everyone just camps their asses off on both maps.... once those maps are implemented into the primary rotations maybe I'll bother with them but for now they just sit there not getting played.

Oh shit! Thats a good point! I guess i just assumed they were going to be in the primary rotations to begin with!..well i definitely wont be a elite premium member anymore haha besides i'm enjoying mw2 more than mw3 even with all the hackers in it..
