According to French gaming blog, Gameblog.fr, the next Call of Duty game has been outed by the French division of online retail giant Amazon.
The blog snapped a screenshot of a listing on Amazon.fr which plainly lists Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 as coming out this year. Now, you're probably saying, 'But, Nate! Any fool with Photoshop and some free time can put together an image as unconvincing as this!'. But the real clincher, fair reader, is Activision's response to Gameblog.fr's publication.
Activision sent an immediate cease and desist, demanding that Gameblog.fr remove the offending post and stop reporting on this information. Gameblog refused, citing their duty to their readers to bring honest and relevant news. Activision promptly informed them that they are blacklisted from the company and all Activision events. Gameblog had previous plans to attend an event for Transformers: Fall of Cybertron which Activision kindly informed them that they are no longer welcome to attend.
You have to ask yourself, why would Activision go to such extreme measures as to alienate a popular French gaming blog if this news wasn't credible? We'll know for sure in a few short months, but I'm starting to feel like Call of Duty: Mayan Warfare may never happen.

Wow thats crazy. Why would Activision ban a blog for reporting a future game. Doesn't make sense.

Activision is trying to keep the title of the next CoD game a secret for the time being. Every major franchise does it, so they can control the release of information at their own pace. The funny thing is, now that Activision has taken action against Gameblog, they've pretty much confirmed the title of the next CoD game will be Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
I'm guessing Amazon France was merely making a mock listing so people could start pre-ordering the game, using the name CoD:BO2, because they were guessing that's what the title would be and Gameblog just ran with it as fact. Activision should've just let it be, but they couldn't, because they're greedy control freaks...

From a business stand point what Activision did was validated. They need other companies to know that it controls the information. Was Gameblog's punishment a little harsh? Of course. But Activision had to make an example out of them. Letting something like that go is the first step down a slippery slope.

You're right Hunter. Activision has done the right thing from a business point of view, but a side effect of doing that, was unofficially confirming the name of the next CoD game. I don't think Activision has been too harsh on Gameblog. They we're asked to remove the article and refused, so Activision has simply denied Gameblog access to any future Activision events and information, which is their choice to make. It's Activision's party and they'll invite whoever they want to.
I wish Sony had followed through with their case against George Hotz (aka; Geohot) and nailed his hacking arse to the wall. If the hackers knew that Sony would sue them (and win) for hacking Sony products, there's a possibility hacking on the PS3 and future PS products, would stop altogether. Instead, Sony settled out of court for a small fine, the rights to George Hotz's life story and a restraining order preventing George Hotz from hacking any other Sony products. Way to go Sony...

Nate Black Ops 2 is coming out November.
and dont feel like your prediction is wrong, MW3 was completed (rather rushed) in a very short time. No im betting that Activision is going to release the BO2 game on the same day that MW3 came out. Then (this is all predicting) they will most likely set up a DLC thing just like MW3s since the huge success it has been. Though they will change it up a little with the new zombie game modes and maps. Thats right zombies (not confirmed) is "supposively" going to have a more playable storyline (sort of a campaign like feel to it). That and regular zombies. Some of the maps that are believed to be in zombies are maps like a mansion (where samantha lived), an airstrip scrapyard, a grave yard (supposively with the tomb of hitler, and when you turn on the power hitler "arises" and is sorta like the dude in Call of the Dead). There are also speculations that a zombies map will include a map based in the National Mall in Washington D.C. (if you dont know thats where the lincoln memorial is and more)
Now on the campaign and multiplayer, i hear that they are going to have more weapons, more of everything. Also the story is supposvely suggested to be the continuation of Mason, and some believe it is the story of another. My money is on the coninuation of Masons story. Multiplayer is said to be chalked up full of the same type of maps BLOPS 1 fans love, and personally i would like that, mw3 maps are too cramped. it is also predicted that the M4 will replace the commando, seeing as the first M4 carbines first (officialy) came out in 1994, im guessing that Mason, Hudson, and Weavers +there group of black ops soldiers will have access to weapons like the M4 before the government approves them. also the availability of machine pistols has been hinted. shotguns have been said to include the Spas-12, the mossberg, a break action shotgun (reload action like the olympias), the earliest verison of the stryker, and the possibility of the jackhammer (a designed automatic shotgun that was never created).
Again these are just speculations of what might be in BLOPS 2. None of it is confirmed, except zombies since that has been (i believe it has been) confirmed. i believe that zombies for BO2 is confirmed because of what i read from this website blackops2game.com.
many of these ideas are wants, wishes, predictions, and everything else that is unofficial and not confirmed. But I'd say that BO2 is going to be a huge hit, larger than its predecessor (BO1).
